Wakesense Detector

Using cutting-edge motion sensing technology, Wakesense is a first-in-class emergency response system that detects when a person has become immobilised through a loss of consciousness while in a confined space

What is WakeSense?

WakeSense is a Motionless Person Detection System (MPDS), which is a new technology designed to identify when an individual has lost consciousness or become immobilised in a confined space, such as a bathroom.

How does it work?

After a person enters a WakeSense-equipped space and closes the entry door, WakeSense will detect the person’s presence and begin monitoring for movement. The slightest movements are enough to satisfy ongoing motion detection. If there is no movement for a pre-determined period of time, WakeSense will emit a pulsed visible and audible warning signal to prompt the occupant to move. If an occupant fails to move for a specified duration after the warning tone sounds, an alarm condition will be triggered which can activate external alarm devices and/or report to a 24/7 monitoring station.

Use cases

WakeSense is suitable for locations such as hospitals, nursing homes, gyms, and public toilets which have fully enclosed or confined spaces (e.g. bathroom facilities)

Patents

    What is WakeSense?

WakeSense is a Detection System designed to identify when an individual has lost consciousness or become immobilised in a confined space, such as a bathroom

    How does it work?

WakeSense detects a person’s presence within a room (Bathroom for example), and then monitors for movement. If there is no movement for a pre-determined period of time, WakeSense will emit a visible and audible warning signal to prompt the occupant to move. If the occupant remains motionless after the warning tone sounds, an alarm condition will be triggered. Alarms can be monitored locally or to a 24/7 monitoring station.

    Where can Wakesense be installed?

WakeSense is suitable for locations such as hospitals, nursing homes, gyms, and public toilets which have fully enclosed or confined spaces (e.g. bathroom facilities)

Why use Wakesense over emergency duress buttons?

Often, a person experiencing a medical episode is incapable of pressing an emergency button themselves. Wakesense is a passive device that monitors an occupant’s movement, and can alert on their behalf.
